The acquisition

The Acquisition - highs and lows

Now, it looks great from the outside - that it was plain-sailing, all those throw away comments “happened overnight” types. We all know that not to be true of course, here I will talk about some of the process in detail.

I’m a big believer in the law of attraction, positive affirmation, the secret (Secret Book) - and that’s where this journey properly started.

It officially started on 26 February 2023 when I wrote in a group planning / mapping exercise. “Add more brands to the portfolio”.

After drawing it on a spidergram the work on ideal scenarios began, I was playing out the next 12 months in my head. For me personally this is where the worry starts. I’m naturally optimistic, but cautious. I have to rely heavily upon a trusted few to seek advice from throughout the process. And share with them what the overall mission is.

OUR MISSION:

Creating dream jobs in dream environments.

Strive to be great.

A great family member. A great friend. A great human.

Everything else will fall into place.

In our minds - the people are the most important thing. The way in which we have conversations and how we conduct ourselves - it all needs to feel right. Sticking with what feels right - doing the best thing for our team, our business and our plans.

Obviously throughout the process there were plenty of peoples lives that could be affected by the acquisition. We maintained that we need to feel good about the way we are treating the people involved and kept this at the forefront throughout.

During the process, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t some wobbles - self doubt, believing that we weren’t big enough to make it happen. We have a fantastic support system and a legal team reminded us throughout that we were only able to do our best. And that, we did.

and take us by surprise, but we always try to remember the original plan and not get swayed by problems or emotions.

Thinking about the org chart, job titles and specs along with how each of the businesses interacts between one another. By welcoming 304 into the Lid group we can share marketing services with Tayroc, the design team can work across internal brands and external client projects, we can also strengthen our offer to clients by including print on demand garments to launch to a consumer market - more about that here

PLAN B

Throughout the process there were a fair few ups and downs, self doubt and questioning whether or not we would “pull it off”. I’d also played out the next 12 months for this route in my head too.

SOLICITOR MEETINGS

Adam Benedict is our trusted firm, we have worked with Adam on a number of matters over the years - he represented us in our first acquisition of Tayroc. Adam challenges us in the right ways and encourages us to thoughtfully consider all elements of a deal. His advice, without a doubt meant that we were successful in this acquisition.

OUR NETWORK

We’ve been extremely fortunate to have such a strong network of believers around us. These people have variously offered help and support, business and personal advice along the way. At Lid Project we pride ourselves on the people we know, and how we build relationships - we share these to our clients that use Lid services too!

SO WHAT’S NEXT?

We will continue to develop the 304 & Tayroc brands in-house.

Take on more clients that are looking for web, social, brand strategy.
